Turn off promotional SMS on your line
Most people know how to do this. However, for some, it’s still a pain in the ass. This post was designed purposely for the sake of those people.

So if you don’t know how to activate it on your line, do well by reading the below steps as well as taking necessary actions accordingly.

How to turn off unwanted SMS on your line for all network providers in Nigeria

working on all network
NOTE: This method works on all network; be it MTN, Airtel, Glo, 9mobile…you name it! Hence, your network provider is under NCC (Nigerian Communication Commission), you are covered. It is known as “Do Not Disturb” and abbreviated as “DND”.

There are two ways of activating “DND” on your line depending on the kind of advert SMS you do not want to receive from your network provider.
  1.     Full DND  and
  2.    Partial DND

FULL DND (Do Not Disturb)

This is the act of activating DND on all the advert SMS available from your network provider. To active full DND follow the steps below

  •          Goto your message sender and
  •          Text “STOP” without quotes to 2442 and wait for a successful message which will confirm whether you have activated it or not.

As easy as this option may seem, this option is not recommend for people that receive SMS from bulk sms websites as some persons complains of not being able to receive bulk SMS from their line after activating “Full DND”.

PARTIAL DND (Do Not Disturb)

Send any of the following options to 2442 depending on the promotional messages you want to stop receiving:-

  • Text 1: To receive Banking / Insurance/ Financial Products
  • Text 2: Real Estate
  • Text 3: Education
  • Text 4: Health
  • Text 5: To receive consumer goods & Automobiles
  • Text 6: Communication/Broadcasting/Entertainment/IT,
  • Text 7: Tourism & Leisure
  • Text 8: Sport
  • Text 9: Religion
  • Text 9a: Christianity
  • Text 9b: Islam
  • Text 9c: Others
  •  Text 10: Information on new products/services
  •  Text 11: News Alerts

To receive all messages, Text ALLOW to 2442. To check your DND status, Text STATUS to 2442.

Recently, news of how Mtn discontinued their 100% data bonus. It was a big disappointment especially to most of us who enjoyed it, as we wish it did continue forever or at least, a little longer.

As if that was not enough, Glo the acclaimed "grand master of data" took a very drastic and surprising decision of reducing their data cap. As usual it was not a good news, it was accepted with a lot of negative reactions despite the daily increase of price of goods in the market due to the economic recession. However, I think it's due to the fact that Glo browsing speed is sluggish in terms of speed compared to others.

Airtel on the other hand seems to have come to our rescue, as they just introduced 150% data bonus to some selected subscribers. Selected subscribers will be eligible for it, up-to the next 6 months, just like that of Mtn.

What this means; is that when you subscribe to Airtel N500 you will get whooping 1.8gb to surf the web for the next two weeks and you will be able to get same amount in your subsequent subscription till 6 months coming.

You can subscribe to this offer if you are eligible by dialing

====> *418*2# or *144#

Isn't that interesting??? You can also check the attached picture for more info.

New Airtel Double Your Data Plan

As the data war keeping raging, Airtel has taken it to another level by releasing to us yet another surprise called double your data offer! It is a situation where you get 100% of the amount of data you bought. That is, when you subscribe for Airtel 1.5gb for N1000 you will be given 3gb, when you subscribe for Airtel instead of the normal 1.5gb, 7gb for 2k etc.

Actually they are not the first to do this, as Mtn have been doing it for close to 5months now but there's is a different case as one has to meet a certain condition before he or she could enjoy the offer, though there's still a way around it for some clever guys.

Airtel on the other hand, have made theirs in such a that only people who received SMS about this offer are eligible...that's indeed great, isn't it?? It is, I guess.

How to double your data in Airtel Network

All you just have to do is recharge your Airtel line with the required amount of airtime and just dail the below code. You just dail the one that is relevant to the amount of data you want to buy.

Dial *496# to get 3GB for N1,000
Dial *437# to get 7GB for N2,000
Dial *438*1# to get 18GB for N4,000.

Note: All the data last for 30days.
I encourage every eligible subscriber to make use of this offer while it lasts. Enjoy!
